Figure drawings in ink

A sketch post, in which I post figure drawings that only I am sure to like.

Had a get together with friends, and we all took turns posing and drawing. About half way through we moved over to gesture drawing, which happens to be my favorite. It gives me an excuse to be super loose (I usually worry too much about accuracy) and have fun with the medium. This time around, it was ink, in different forms. The first set there is with a brush pen. Then I moved on to using a crow quill and bamboo quill, and experimenting with it and water. It started off pretty rough, but by that end image there, I’d found a way to work with it I liked.

While these may look like glorified scribbles to some, I’m actually rather happy with them. I like the amount of movement here. The amount of abstraction. My work tends to get too stiff for my liking. I want to bring some of this life into more finished pieces.

Cat Dragon Commish

Commission for a good friend of mine who has also been incredibly patient. I was asked to make a sphinx cat dragon. It was a really fun challenge. So many wrinkles <3 tons of fun to draw.

Just a Holy Fool

Commission for a friend of mine of our two characters from a 1890's western RP we do. Virgil is mine, and Ruth is hers. They don't have the most healthy of relationships. There's several things going on in there to symbolize that. From how well they're rendered, how polished they are, body language, facial expressions, state of dress.

Yukon Living

Collab between myself and Rek. It’s the icon for a forum RP we do that takes place in the Yukon during the 1950’s with serial killers and murderous polar bears. Good times! She thought up and drew the original image, I cleaned up and colored it.

Air

Done for a Halloween trade on Facebook with friends. My prompt of choosing was Air, and so I did a piece reflecting all the things that remind me of it.

An example image for my students for their next project. They're making masks! This is a vectored version of a self portrait originally done in pencils. We were to portray ourselves as some kind of cultural mask. Naturally, I took the Tibetan route.


I also now remember why I hate vectors and the pen tool. So tedious and boring. x_x

A tribute to Mother Monster that I’ve been wanting to do for far too long. I don’t know why I never knocked it out before. But a few years back, I might not have been able to get it to work. So maybe it was for the best to wait to do it now.

Pretty simple stuff. Classic good design colors, also heavily inspired by the Bad Romance music video, which is probably my favorite to this day. I wanted to draw the Mother as a real monster. :P Since I am a little monster who draws…monsters.
