Gouache is a funny word

 

playing with gouache, trying to get a feel for it. The colors can get muddy so fast. Just some random tentacle haired guy for the test. I think I went over board on the lighting. I think I'll just use white chalk on it's own next time, and probably not ink it. A fun experiment either way. I learned a lot.

Faux SOCA

 

Since it was first friday, and the shows were all closed by the time I was done in the crafts dept, myself, Tiffany and Sarah all got together and drew each other.  Each drawing was about 10 minutes, since none of us are professional models, and holding poses past that really sucks. What we're thinking of doing, is every first friday getting together, and possibly bring some kind of interesting prop to interact with to draw each other. This would give us all practice with clothes and with people interactions with objects, so I'm all for doing it. We each got about six pages out of this in about two hours or so. 

 

I drew Tiffany saying arg because she was covering one eye, and we were calling her a pirate. :B It was fun! A relaxed atmosphere, no rush between poses, and we could break any time it was needed. 

Geisha

 

Neck's pretty long, but it was fun to do. Exercise in Digital Drawing class. About an hour. We had to draw this Geisha from a photo, and then use specific color swatches to color it with flat colors only. Done in Ps

SOCA and DeathSquids

 

Two non SOCA related life drawings. The one on the left is a person who moved before I could finish her and the view I get from the place I sit for lunch. The drawing on the right is my wax organic object I made in my crafts class. It's been affectionately deemed the death squid. 

 

Three drawings from SOCA. the first one was five minutes, and the other two were 15. She was a lot of fun to draw, I hope she gets to model for us again. My scanner was not a fan of these colors. They WERE a pale yellow and purple with red ink. 

 

And a 20 minute pose. Lots of fun foreshortening. 

Flesh uncovered after all

Some people I've talked to have never heard of Daft Punk, and that is a crime. So here is one of my favorite songs by them off of their CD "Human after all" the title of the song being the same. The video is from their movie Electroma since there's no video for this song.

The series of images I'm doing in Honors studio is based off of this CD, my 'thesis' if you will being man's relationship with technology. A lot of their music seems to deal with the same thing on this CD, and it's inspired tons of ideas in my head. I just hope I can get them all done in time.

P.S. totally trying to make their helmets over the summer.

SOCA in green

Model drawings. We had a girl, which was a welcome change of pace. I'm pretty fond of these colors with that color pen. Over all a pretty good session artistically.

glass prep

 

The front and profile for my next glass piece. I still need to document my first. It needed to be an abstract organic shape, so I'm doing an alien skull of sorts. We'll see how this turns out.

School work and hands

 

The first page of my new sketchbook for digital drawing class. Nicole you have weird fingers. Though I don't think I did much better at drawing them. 

IT'S A HAND FORREST. My gross hands and fingers in all of these. Tried over lapping hands, using colors to push them back in space. Don't think it worked so hot. But it was fun.

 

And lastly, concept sketches for my Japanese Tsukumogami, which are possessed objects that come to life after 100 years. They're the main characters for a comic I'm going to be doing in sequential. One's a sandal, and the other is a lantern.
