SOCA with Ps

First time doing figure drawing digitally. Brought my computer and tablet with me to SOCA. It was a nice change of pace. Planning to do more figures like the very last one.

SOCA returns

SOCA's back in session for the semester. We did two long poses this time instead of several shorter ones. My first run didn't go so great, so this is the only one that's decent.

Dr. Sketchys

Dr. Sketchy's session today from 5-about 8. Got a lot of sketches in, and remembered that I should be doing figure drawings more often! x_x Model is Jendetta. Poses range anywhere from 5-20 minutes.

Faux SOCA

Since it was first friday, and the shows were all closed by the time I was done in the crafts dept, myself, Tiffany and Sarah all got together and drew each other.  Each drawing was about 10 minutes, since none of us are professional models, and holding poses past that really sucks. What we're thinking of doing, is every first friday getting together, and possibly bring some kind of interesting prop to interact with to draw each other. This would give us all practice with clothes and with people interactions with objects, so I'm all for doing it. We each got about six pages out of this in about two hours or so.

I drew Tiffany saying arg because she was covering one eye, and we were calling her a pirate. :B It was fun! A relaxed atmosphere, no rush between poses, and we could break any time it was needed.

SOCA and DeathSquids

Two non SOCA related life drawings. The one on the left is a person who moved before I could finish her and the view I get from the place I sit for lunch. The drawing on the right is my wax organic object I made in my crafts class. It's been affectionately deemed the death squid.

Three drawings from SOCA. the first one was five minutes, and the other two were 15. She was a lot of fun to draw, I hope she gets to model for us again. My scanner was not a fan of these colors. They WERE a pale yellow and purple with red ink.

And a 20 minute pose. Lots of fun foreshortening.

Back in School

School's started back up, and so has SOCA. So here's the the pick of the litter from my first batch. I think it shows that I've been a bit negligent over winter break. >.>  done with watercolor and microns. I sketched with the watercolor, blocking in basic shapes, then inked the piece to get in detail, and then go back in a final time to add shadows.

sketches and monsters once more

The first three are from a separate session from a few weeks ago, and the last three are from this past Friday. I really enjoy having female models. It's a big change of pace since we seem to get male models more of the time. My first sketchbook of the semester is almost full! I'm going to try and fill out a second, which means doing more life drawings instead of random doodling.

I had a bit of a Chinese monster phase, and this is the last of the monsters. I really like it, but I have no idea what to do with the guy. I was thinking of printing it off and transferring it to some watercolor paper to experiment with watercolors. Textures, colors, etc. I might if I ever get the free time.
