SOCA with Ps

First time doing figure drawing digitally. Brought my computer and tablet with me to SOCA. It was a nice change of pace. Planning to do more figures like the very last one.

SOCA returns

SOCA's back in session for the semester. We did two long poses this time instead of several shorter ones. My first run didn't go so great, so this is the only one that's decent.

SOCA! We had a pair model for us. I tried a few new ideas for how to do these, and the first one of using watercolor and colored pencil flopped, so I went back to using pen. I was sick this SOCA, so these aren't too accurate, as I was like "buh, wish I could breathe and hear..." haha. I tried to focus more on value and modeling rather than anatomical perfection (obviously). I think next SOCA, depending on the model, I'll be focusing on parts of the form, and not trying to draw the whole thing. 

 And these last two are from the last session of Dr. Sketchy's. It was a voodoo theme, and the model Rio bought her adorable pet snakes with her to model with. They were so cute! The first one here was a challenge of trying to draw her as she was dancing, since our model is also a belly dancer.

The only two poses from SOCA I really cared for. The last one my friends said we should all draw her as a cool demon chick so I did. Despite not being on the ball that session it was lots of fun.

From the session today at Dr. Sketchy's RVA. Our first male model (Parker Galore). He was lots of fun to draw. Did some great poses, and had some awesome costumes. This page was just 5min a piece, and I was working more on just loosening up rather than being dead accurate.

My brush pen ran out of ink so I had to move over to using a brown micron for the rest of the session. Gladiator gear!

The second pace was a Pan costume. I took the mask and made it his actual face. We had to draw him with some other mythical creature in a setting.

Same thing with making the mask his actual face. The unicorn was actually a hobby horse. I BSed what little horse anatomy I knew to make it a real unicorn. :P

SOCA couples night

Tonight was a couple, which was fun. I got there a bit late so my first one is less than five minutes. I like it though, it's still nice and loose.

Started playing with not just drawing as much of the model as possible from here on out. Proved to be much more interesting.

Playing with bolder lines in that last one. Was fun.

SOCA once again. This model always does great poses. Some of them had to be cut short, but it was understandable.

It's spring break! Which means just doing more work! So Maybe you'll see something from me that's more than figure drawings by the end of the week. Maybe.

SOCA and DeathSquids

 

Two non SOCA related life drawings. The one on the left is a person who moved before I could finish her and the view I get from the place I sit for lunch. The drawing on the right is my wax organic object I made in my crafts class. It's been affectionately deemed the death squid. 

 

Three drawings from SOCA. the first one was five minutes, and the other two were 15. She was a lot of fun to draw, I hope she gets to model for us again. My scanner was not a fan of these colors. They WERE a pale yellow and purple with red ink. 

 

And a 20 minute pose. Lots of fun foreshortening.

Model drawings. We had a girl, which was a welcome change of pace. I'm pretty fond of these colors with that color pen. Over all a pretty good session artistically.

Back in School

School's started back up, and so has SOCA. So here's the the pick of the litter from my first batch. I think it shows that I've been a bit negligent over winter break. >.>  done with watercolor and microns. I sketched with the watercolor, blocking in basic shapes, then inked the piece to get in detail, and then go back in a final time to add shadows.

SOCA, now with twice the models!

SOCA was awesome last night. We had a couple as models, and they could BREAK DANCE. They were awesome enough to hold break dancing poses for a solid minute for some gesture drawings (far left). It was fun to draw two people interacting.
